Winter Olympics in Vancouver

I've been watching some of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada and the different sporting events everyday. The sports and the athletes all fascinate me. Maybe it's the defying gravity amongst ice and snow that I find amazing. I was watching the event ski-jumping. Ski-jumping is when an athlete skis down a long ramp and launches into the air at speeds up to 95 kilometers per hour! The athletes must have pristine technique in order to perform a well-timed takeoff. When the jumpers are in the air they form a V-style and adjust their position to maximize and minimize drag. The competitors are judged by their distance and style, and having the longest jump. The high risks of the sport associated with the pressure of making a perfectly- timed takeoff and flawless technique make for an incredibly demanding sport and intensive training, along with some darn good genetics thrown in there. Although I can never dream to aspire to become an Olympic athlete (pretty sure training starts when your a fetus) I am however registered to run in a half marathon in April(no I'm not kidding) so maybe some of these Olympian athletes can inspire some kind of dedication and motivation for me during training. (On Monday I plan to run 3 miles, whoop whoop)
